Grade: 9A       The Theme: Choosing a profession. Revision lesson.
Objectives:

  1. to practise using the vocabulary of jobs;
  2. to check and consolidate grammar studied in this unit: future continuous tense;
  3. to develop students` thinking ability, to train their memory.

Beginning activities: Organization moment

–         Good morning? How are you? Who is on duty today? Who is absent?

What date is it today? What is the weather like today?

Warm up activity:

Word search: Look across and down and circle twelve career words.

Checking home task: exercise 2, page 73

Follow up activities:

Activity 1 — First of all I want you to remember our last grammar theme future continuous tense. What activity does it show? (Students answer.) Look at board. There are ten questions according this theme, find the right answer.

Activity 2 — Divide the class into five groups. Play the recording for each group, listen to five situations. Match them with jobs. There is one extra job: doctor, hotel receptionist, journalist, plumber, shop assistant, travel agent.

Answers: 1. hotel receptionist 2. shop assistant 3. travel agent 4. doctor

Activity 3 — Ex.3, p.73 Complete the sentences with the correct personality adjective from the list below

brave, dynamic, hard-working, practical, sensitive, sympathetic

  1. Karen starts crying if you criticize her! She is so sensitive!
  2. Harry’ full of energy and good ideas. What a dynamic person!
  3. Tim studies for four hours each evening. He’s very hard-working.
  4. I could never go parachuting. I’m not brave enough.
  5. Jenny listens everyone’s problems and always feels sorry for them. I`m afraid I`m not so sympathetic.
  6. Roger can build or mend anything. He`s the most practical.

Activity 4 — ex.4, p.73 Match the jobs (a-g) with the things that the people say (1-7). example: 1a

  1. «Good morning everybody. I`m going to go over your homework, as some of you made some mistakes.»

  4. «I`m afraid your cat is not very well but you can make her better. Don`t worry!»
  5. «After Christmas and somewhere warm? O`k. What price range were you thinking of?»
  6. «Oh dear! This looks a bit tricky. Very tricky. We`ll to turn the water off and you need a new bath. It`ll cost about 500 pounds.»
  7. «Excuse me! I`m writing an article about tourism in Spain. It`s for your magazine. Can you tell me …»

Activity 5 — ex.5, p.73 Complete the sentences with the correct word.
